Prominent businessman and philanthropist, Otunba Muraina Olatunji Banjoko, popularly known as Threeco, has declared that his ambition to represent Ogun Central Senatorial District in the 2027 elections is driven by a mission to restore the pride and dignity of the region through effective and purposeful representation.
Speaking at a legislative roundtable with select journalists on Sunday, Banjoko painted a vivid picture of the challenges confronting communities across Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Obafemi-Owode, Odeda, Ifo, and Ewekoro local government areas. He lamented the state of poor infrastructure, inadequate healthcare facilities, rising youth unemployment, and limited access to social services, stressing that these issues have eroded the welfare of the people and slowed development in Ogun Central.
According to him, “Effective representation at the National Assembly is vital to reversing these trends. We must restore the dignity of Ogun Central by ensuring our people have access to quality education, healthcare, relevant infrastructure, and opportunities for economic empowerment”.
Threeco pledged to champion development-driven policies that would attract federal projects, strengthen local industries, and create jobs for the teeming youth population. He emphasized that if given the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and elected to the Senate, he would push for legislation that prioritizes social welfare, grassroots empowerment, and inclusive growth.
“My vision is to restore Ogun Central’s pride of place as a model of progress where every citizen feels the impact of government in their daily lives. Lawmakers must go beyond statutory duties of lawmaking and oversight to complement the executive’s developmental efforts, especially at the grassroots where social dislocations are rife,” he added.
Banjoko also used the occasion to rally party members and constituents, urging them to update their APC membership and take advantage of the ongoing continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise.
“I implore our people to register as members of the APC and update their voter cards. It is only when the people vote and elect the right persons into public office that we can truly enjoy the dividends of democracy,” he noted.
