The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a woman for allegedly abandoning her newborn baby in a bush in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state. The baby, wrapped in a piece of cloth, was discovered near a primary school on AA Koto Street in Akwanga on Wednesday. Residents who found the infant alive quickly alerted the police. Dangote refinery has said it will commence free direct supply of petrol across the country from Monday, September 15. The refinery also slashed petrol retail prices to N841 per litre in Lagos and the South West. For Abuja, Edo, Kwara, Rivers and Delta states, it will be N851 per litre. Dangote refinery on Tuesday said that the country would not witness petrol shortage despite an ongoing strike by a union representing fuel tanker drivers. The strike, which began Monday and has since drawn support from other unions in Nigeria and abroad, comes as the refinery, the largest in Africa, is hiring its own drivers to deliver gasoline to retailers. 63 people, including five soldiers, have lost their lives in renewed Boko Haram attack on Darajamal, a community in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. Recall that similar attacks occurred in the community some months back and the resident were only recenly resettled.
