The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has strongly denied reports suggesting that its National Leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, engaged in negotiations to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Contrary to speculation, the party insists that Kwankwaso never held discussions with President Bola Tinubu or made any demands regarding a possible defection.
The rumors gained traction following the defection of Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, to the APC, with some commentators alleging that Kwankwaso’s supposed “high demands” created friction within the NNPP. Baba Yusuf, Group CEO of Global Investment and Trade Company, had told Arise TV that Kwankwaso “overreached” in his political calculations.
Responding to the claims, NNPP National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, dismissed the narrative as false and mischievous.
Johnson further accused detractors of deliberately spreading misinformation to weaken Kwankwaso’s influence among opposition forces. He emphasized that Kwankwaso remains committed to the NNPP and to serving the public interest.
“Kwankwaso is a man of integrity who plays his politics with the people at heart,” Johnson added.
