The Ogun State House of Assembly, during its sitting on Tuesday, vowed to issue a warrant of arrest against 17 people allegedly said to have been involved in land grabbing and sales of land belonging to Housing Corporation at Ibido, Sagamu and Itanrin, near Ijebu Ode.
The Chairman, House Committee on Lands and Housing, Damilola Soneye, in a statement on Tuesday, was said to have issued the threat while summoning these individuals to appear before the House on Thursday over these allegations.
For the alleged sales of land belonging to the Housing Corporation at Ibido, Sagamu, the statement read, “Those involved in the allegation as contained in the petition by the Corporation are Mr. Emmanuel Osho, Mr. Folabi Osho, Mr. Moshood Lawal Keji, Mr. Owodunni Sodipo, Mr. Adeyiga Jeje Lambo, Mr. Abiodun Soneye, Mr. Tikare and Mr. Hammed Sodipe.
“The House Committee issued the invitation following the failure of the set of eight individuals involved in the alleged illegal sales of the corporation land to honour the two earlier invitations extended to them.”
The assembly however warned that “failure of the individuals to appear before the assembly on Thursday, 26th of June by noon, the assembly will not hesitate to issue a warrant for their arrest to compel them to attend in line with section 129 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria ( as amended)”.
Similarly, for those allegedly involved in land grabbing activities and encroaching on the Housing Corporation land at Itanrin estate, Ijebu-Ode, the committee listed Mr. Sikiru Shittu Onakoya, Mr. Ismail Onakoya, Mr. Azeez Shittu Onakoya, Mr. Tunde Onakoya, Alhaji Olukorede Baoku, Mr. Adeleke Yekeen Abu, Alhaji Ikililu Alawiye, Chief Akeem Abajo, and Mr. Adegunwa Kunle Oluwatosin, urging them to appear before the House committee on 26th of June, 2025 at 1pm.
The Committee also warned that the assembly would not hesitate to invoke the relevant section of the constitution to issue a warrant of arrest to compel them to appear before the lawmakers.
